An outcome.
A useful idea.
What will they be able to do?
Give the idea
a next step.
For course creators
Start with an outcome. Or start with your material.
Both routes lead to a focused unit: what someone should be able to do, what will help them understand it, and how they can practice.
- 01
Define the useful outcome
Start with the thing a learner should be able to explain or do. Or begin with material you have permission to use.
- 02
Shape the chapter
Organize the explanation, sources and examples. Keep the purpose of the unit clear.
- 03
Build in active work
Add a question or case, a visual task and an explain-back prompt. Give each activity useful feedback.
- 04
Review an exact preview
Inspect a fixed edition, then have the required independent reviewer assess it before release.
- 05
Publish the reviewed edition
Release deliberately. Later edits become another edition, while earlier learning records keep their original context.
Keep the useful context
Teach the idea. Keep the context.
Sources, media and practice belong to the unit they support. Creators remain responsible for permission to use their material and appropriate subject review.
